ABOUT US
Subic Metro Executive Lions Club: A Legacy of Service and Leadership
Chartered on February 16, 2024, the Subic Metro Executive Lions Club (SMELC) is a vibrant and service-driven organization under District 301-D1, located in Subic, Zambales, Region 3, Philippines. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission under the number 2024020138210-01, the Club is also recognized internationally with Club Number 157226 by Lions Clubs International.
SMELC holds its regular monthly meetings every first Saturday at 5:00 PM, at the 3rd Floor, ARA-J Lodge Events Place, located along the National Highway in Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales. From its beginnings with 26 charter members, the club has grown impressively to 54 active members as of 2025, comprising professionals across sectors including business, government, private industry, and retirees.
For the Lion Year 2025–2026, the Club is ably led by its dynamic President, Lion Maria Rigena T. Teves, 3PMJF, supported by a dedicated team of officers and directors. The leadership includes Immediate Past President/Admin Officer Lion Eva Esoterica Deveraturda, MJF, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents Lions Aida Lina and Walter Akut, Secretary Lion Reynalyn "Rain" Fortaleza-Cabreros, and other capable officers ensuring smooth governance and community outreach.
SMELC is actively engaged in numerous service activities aligned with the nine global causes of Lions Clubs International: Vision, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Environment, Hunger, Youth, Humanitarian Needs, Disaster Relief, and Mental Health. The Club has executed impactful projects such as free eye check-ups, cataract operations, Zumba fitness for diabetes awareness, tree planting, coastal cleanups, food distribution to the needy, and extensive support to children and families facing cancer or poverty. Notably, the Club has also provided critical assistance during natural disasters by donating food, water, shelter, and other essentials. Most recently, it has begun a strong focus on mental health awareness and education.
In just its second year, SMELC has already made a mark by being awarded 4th Best Club in District 301-D1, out of 65 clubs. Their service impact reaches across Subic, Olongapo, Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Antonio, Cabangan, and Iba, with some members participating in international and national Lions events, including the Orient-Southeast Asian Lions Convention in Pattaya, Thailand, and the Multi-District Convention in the Philippines.
Looking ahead, SMELC aims to expand its outreach, particularly in mental health, while maintaining its commitment to the other eight global causes. The Club seeks to increase its number of beneficiaries and extend its services to more communities in need.
The Club’s demographic reflects diversity in gender, age, and profession—37 females and 17 males, ranging in age from young professionals under 30 to experienced leaders over 60. With strong representation from business owners, managers, government employees, and professionals from various fields, the Club brings together a wealth of experience and dedication to service.
